Корпорация Google представила Google TV - платформу, позволяющую телезрителям просматривать ролики на YouTube и других сайтах, а также посещать любые веб-страницы с помощью встроенного браузера Chrome.Google TV позволяет искать нужные фильмы, клипы и передачи. Поиск производится как по интернет-контенту, так и по спутниковым и кабельным каналам и даже контенту некоторых цифровых видеорекордеров. Предположительно, поисковые запросы можно будет набирать с помощью пульта дистанционного управления или приложения на смартфоне пользователя.
Google TV будут поддерживать некоторые новые телевизоры. Для остальных предлагается телеприставка, добавляющая нужные функции. Для ее подключения нужен лишь разъем HDMI и широкополосный доступ в Сеть.
Партнерами Google в телевизионном проекте являются Sony и Logitech. Первые устройства с поддержкой Google TV появятся в продаже в США осенью 2010 года.
