У нас металлическую печь представляют, в основном, в виде буржуйки, а между тем- они были самых разнообразных форм, очень интересных. Некоторые напоминают стеллы-надгробия, некоторые затейливы настолько, что сами по себе являются украшением интерьера.

Спальня- 1777г. Печка- слева, а скульптура справа- фейк, это выход в прихожую.




История железных печей начинается с появления чугунных пластин (плит), которые стали использовать в печах примерно в начале 14 века в Южной Германии.

Как правило это были четырехугольные печи, топливник которых составляли 5 чугунных плит (самая старая из них датируется 1497 годом). Позднее на топливник стали ставить чугунное трюмо, в котором размещались газоходные каналы и специальная камера для еды, чтобы сохранять ее теплой.

Известно много конструкций чугунной печи. Среди них: американки, мантельные печи, ирландки, хопвелл-печи, кассетные печи, и конечно же, печки-буржуйки.

Начиная с 17 века чугунные печи становятся более совершенными технически и более разнообразными по форме (возможности чугунного литья со временем расширялись),в 1745 году были запатентованы печи Франклина, и дальше последовал еще ряд изобретений. С тех пор чугунная печь с изменениями распространилась по всему миру.
